NEW GUINEA BLACK BASS

The New Guinea Black Bass is a heavyweight jungle brawler, caught in snag filled estuaries. Owing to the close-quarters battle of these fish and the difficult nature of the jungle environment in which they are found, medium to reasonably rugged bait casting tackle is needed.

Black Bass are true "river rambos" and short-term brawlers. The key to catching and landing them is stopping their freight train strike and burst for cover. They are tough on tackle and only lures with quality high strength hooks are effective.

They are seldom caught in great numbers, owing to their bad disposition and demeanour as well as their love of thick cover and downed timber. They number among the most demanding river fish to catch.
